Gardening for Bees

| I liked the UC Berkeley site, but need more information.
How do I plant a garden that is more bee and butterfly oriented, honeybees in particular?
Is scattergardening (seed mix spread and allowed to grow however) a good option, or does it need to be more organized and 'patchy' with various types of flowers?
I want the bees back!! |

| Trees give you more bang than any type of garden plantings. Bees need a large forage base. A typical forage area is a 2 mile radius (8000 acres) and can range up to a 4 mile radius. Agastache would be a good start, but plant all you can. |

| I'm planning on putting in an herb garden for me and the bees. I've noticed that a LOT of the herbs when let to flower are bee attractive. Mints and balms especially. |
