Western NC beekeepers

Hi,

I have been interested in beekeeping for many years but because of living in suburban Chicago have never pursued it.

This summer or early fall my husband and I will be moving to the Asheville area of NC. I would like to meet some local beekeepers and find out more about what is involved before making a commitment.

We will be buying a house with a few acres (hopefully more), so for the first time I will have some space in which to get started.

Hi Jeanne,

Have you checked out the BeeCARE site yet? It is a very good resoure site for beekeeping and there is a nationwide "Swarm List" with contact numbers of beekeepers. If memory serves me right, I believe I saw a contact number for the North Carolina area on that list as well. That person should be able to help you get in touch with other beekeepers (or beekeeping groups) in your area.

Here is the link to the list (I believe that particular page may be updating right now, so it may not be accessible at the moment.)

Well, take care and enjoy your new home and past time. :)

You can also try contacting one of the beekeeping associations near you.

Here is a link that might be useful: NC beekeepers associations
