Does anyone know of a good illustrated book that identifies the different bees found in North America? I keep noticing bees and things I think are bees and am often curious about what they are and what they need.

Below is a bee I thought this was a honey bee, but the coloring doesn't quite look right. It's always alone, and it seems to fly close to the ground, as if it's looking to make a home. Does anyone have an idea of what this bee might be? (Pun unintended)
