Is there any reason one would ever have to worry about cleaning a bee box. For example in a situation where the honey and or pollen is not harvested? After swarming?
the only need to clean would be a pathogen such as American Foul Brood. Some states and provinces allow you to singe the inside surfaces. Others allow irradiation.
Generally, unless the hive is badly slimed by Small Hive Beetle or badly webbed by wax moth larvae, new bees will be happy enough to clean it up.
