Bumble bees in pile of wet insulation

Posted by gardenhome-amy Oregon (My Page) on

We had a house fire a few months ago and have been ripping out the ruined insulation and lutting in a pile to haul away. Today we noticed pollen-laden bees coming in and out of the center of the pile. I THINK they are bumble bees, not honey bees. They're bigger and orange and black with some yellow. I don't want to kill them but must move the pile! Any way to simply move the pile slowly? Help

Oh dear...hope everybody is fine.
Queen bumbles love insulation to start a family.

I would move it when dark and bumble is home,.......yes slow...but not guarantee for success.

Isn't it wonderful when someone's first reaction to a squatter bee isn't a can of Raid? No matter what happens to the bumbles, "thank you for not spraying."
