Hello bee friends!

I don't usually come to this forum, but am aware of problems with declining bee populations and orchard pollination.

Thought the linked article might be of interest to your group:

Thank you so much! I found this very interesting. I am eager to try anything natural that might be beneficial to my bees.

Thanks for the article. Unfortunately, it dooesn't go into enough details to be practical. If anyone has the specifics, I'd be really interested. For example, no quantities were mentioned (how much of each ingredient), and the use of formic acid is pretty tricky--that's a very dangerous acid.

I'm glad you pointed out that danger, thisbud4u! I don't know enough to judge the info, nor am I a beekeeper (though I am setting up a wee mason bee house/hive, and aim to plant things they like). But I figured that someone(s) among you might know enough or be interested enough to check it out in more detail to share. It'd be great if it ended up to be of "easy" and safe practical use. Appropriate cautions important.

I think that maybe planting some Spearmint and lemongrass cannot hurt. I doubt adding some natural oil to a "candy" patty wouldn't be to bad either. We use a prepackaged mix.

Jackie, where do you get your prepackaged mix?

Our prepackaged mix is a brood builder from Dadant. It makes a kind of dough that is placed on top of the hive.
