Full StoryHi, I am planning to requeen all my hives later this year. Ideally I want a queen that has some Varroa mite resistance or at least tolerance, and is not too susceptible to other diseases. I want to keep the medications and chemicals out of the hives if possible. After reading a lot about the different strains I am still not sure which one would be better. I am a hobby beekeeper, living in the suburbs of Indianapolis. I want a reasonable honey harvest, but I am also interested in a gentle bee (neighbors around me) that doesn't glue everything together with propolis, and that winters well in our climate (USDA zone 5b). I know, there is no ideal bee. What I am interested in though is your experience with different strains, and what you like or don't like about them. Alos, if you could include where you got your queens, that would be great. Thanks in advance guys.
