if you have uncapped larvae, they were laid just less than a week or so earlier. The fact you don't "see" eggs doesn't mean they're not there.

However, another possiblity is that your hive has swarmed or is about to. For about a week before this event, the queen slims down and isn't laying. (please tell me you're NOT killing queen cells).

After the swarm, a virgin queen hatches (unless the beekeeper killed all the queen cells), and goes out to mate when a week or so old. IF she mates, IF she doesn't get eaten and IF she finds her way home again (and usually, she suceeds in all three of these), she'll start to lay,... but it could take several days, perhaps a week, for this to happen.

So a lack of eggs in the hive can occur and cover the span of time from a week or so before the swarm to nearly two weeks after.
