Attracting pollinators...

I have about a dozen east Friesland Sage in my front yard that the bumblebees seem to love. At any one time, I'll see up to a dozen of them, along with the occassional honey bee (a rarity in my area lately), and moths/butterflies taking their turns at the many stalks. I wanted to put some more in the backyard where I plan to put some veggies next year. Is this going to get the result that I hope for, or will my buzzing buddies stick to the sage and ignore the veggie plants? Thanks!!

When I lived in a city, I had the same problem - not enough pollinators for the veggie garden. My solution was to take a beekeeping class and to then place 6 hives. There were so many bees that they were checking dirt on the sidewalk to see if it was of use.

If you don't want to keep bees, a large pot drip saucer filled with 3/4" rock, then filled almost to the top of the rock with water will provide an accessible water source. I've used this method in several gardens to bring pollinators into the area.
