These {{gwi:431453}} are in my birdhouse about 5 feet from my front door. I was concerned at first but they are very docile. They are bigger than a honey bee and half the size of a carpenter bee although I did see a carpenter bee enter this birdhouse. Different kinds of bees will live together? Their abdomens are black. There is a tiny bit of nonviscous yellow liquid leaking out the bottom of the house. Water? Bee pee? Honey?

They are baby bumblebees.

In the spring, we usually see the large queens flying around collecting nectar and pollen for their own nest. Then the first brood emerges, after that we don't see the queen anymore because she stays in the nest tending new brood and the babies that just emerged go out and start collecting the pollen and nectar for her.

The liquid could be nectar which is uncured honey.
Would be watery as curing involves the bees drying the honey to a certain thickness before a cell is capped, by flapping their wings on it.

Nectar really becomes honey as soon as it is transferred to the hive, as it is regurgitated from their honey stomachs.
