Learning about bees and I have really newbie questions

I was on the organic garden thread and then I jumped over here because I have honey bees nesting in an old rairoad tie in a shared driveway where a neighbor is deathly allergic to bees. Tomorrow I have a beekeeper coming to help me to see if I can help or save the bees without resorting to killing them. I have an old house with much to close off to keep bees from nesting in various locations. However, if my family likes bees can't we just get a hive and will all the bees of the same strain go to it? How do you make bumble bee homes and please explain why honey bees would pick to nest in a house rather than hives of beekeepers. I know very little about honey bees but like many Americans we want to help the bees and the bee keepers. My husband and I just read and researched about the huge collapse that occurred recently. We are organic gardeners and are hoping to teach our neighbors about it as well. How can we help beekeepers. (other than buying American made local honey.)
