 o
And speaking of gross roaches

The roach I mentioned in my previous post appears to be living in my as-yet-not-built-out super which is on the hive but not populated at all (and was above the queen excluder which I just removed). There was clearly poo around the outside edge of the super box but nothing apparent inside. I know whom to thank for that housekeeping. I tried to kill it but it jumped out and took off into the woods. (It was easily the size of my thumb. Ew ew ew.)

Surely once the bees move in, the giant roach will not return, right? I saw a baby-sized roach in the lowest deep but it looked like it was hauling buns to get away - from me or the bees, who knows?

How is it that bees are so awesome and roaches so revolting? The fact that they were in there makes me want to replace the equipment.

In Florida we have the big American Cockroaches and I have found them in weak hives but not in strong ones. Placing your hive in an open area away from trees and in direct full sunlight helps keep them out.
