Use of inner cover

I don't remember if an inner cover is used inside the telescoping cover over the honey super. Is it?

I put it on, but when I peeked in on the bee activity, it some how didn't look right.

RE: Use of inner cover

Every body has their own opinion, but I always use an inner cover as the last thing on the top. Mostly so I can prop the top when it is real hot to help with ventilation and still gives the bees some protection.

RE: Use of inner cover

I like the inner cover, it has a notch in front for ventilation and makes another entrance above the brood chamber, bees can go directly into the hone super, bypassing the brood chamber.
