Identify please.

I'm not sure what this is. There are hundreds of them flying in a field behind us. The hardly ever land and are very very fast. They are many times bigger than a yellow jacket and seem to always be chasing each other. I'm not sure if I should stay far away or don't worry about them. The photo is not very good because I can't get real close to them. Thanks for your help.
