Bees of all kinds are effected by weather--too much water or too little water! My second yr. of beekeeping, the weather was wet and much cooler than the average years before. All the blossoms rotted and my bees produced little to no honey. The next yr, we had drought conditions for about 5 months, again, little or no honey. I placed water in a small childs swimming pool and placed sticks that would float, to help my honey bees and we are lucky enough to be able to water our large feilds of vegs, clover and other vegatation which helps some. also, great tip on the sticks in water. do you think a water lily is an adequate landing pad?

water lily might be adequate. Some people fill a 5 gallon bucket and put styrofoam peanuts in it. Others, if they have an outdoor water feature, but an area with gravel so the water is around the gravel, but not covering it.
