I found a simple patter for a mason bee home of bamboo. If I one, will they come? Twice now I've wanted to order mason bees, but by the time it is warm enough here the sources are sold out. I know you can't guarantee they'll come, but might they find it? I seem to remember something about having some water or mud around to encourage them, too

They may or may not come. Certainly not this year, but in April and May of next year they might. If there is a local population then your chances are very good of "capturing" some bees of your own. In general, viable nesting holes are in short supply to the bees who will happily move into your bamboo tubes if they find them, and they are situated in a dry location.
