Yellow Jacket Problem! Plz Help!

| We arrived down in our Florida condo and by chance I happen to notice honey combs under the lip of front porch. One of workers in the area noticed me looking at them and said they were yellow jackets. He may be wrong because yellow jackets normally live in the ground, but I'm not sure. Either way the nest needs to be removed. The only problem is that you cannot see the nest until you are extremely close to the nest almost under the lip of the front porch ceiling. I also noticed they are starting to build a second nest 6 feet away in the corner, also on the ceiling of the front porch.
I know that whatever we do should be at night when they are all home, but I'm not sure how to get rid of it/them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

| Depending upon the kind of yellowjackets, they can live in the ground or in an aerial nest. But combs you won't see because the large nest is built such that the interior isn't visible. If you can see into the underside of what appears to be combs, and the critters look like yellowjackets, you likely have European paper wasps -- technical name Polistes dominulus. If so, they're relatively recent arrivals in the US, I think the late 1990s. |
