Last saturday I donned my first bee suit and assisted in opening a hive. As I stood their eyes wide, bees buzzing I found myself enthralled. What a wonder as we pulled each comb from the hive, I was mesmerized. It wasn't until I left and came home did the full weight of the expierence hit me. I found myself excitedly calling family members and describing my expierence as it occured to me that there are not too many people that have had the oppurtunity to actually do what I did. I have agreed to buy 3 hives with bees at a cost $125.00 each which I think is reasonable. The person I am buying from will extract the honey for me at no cost in exchange for the comb. I am assuming this is fair. Needless to say I am hooked and looking forward to next spring. How amazing are these little creatures and I have only scratched the surface.
