Honey Color

Posted by mac357 (My Page) on

This year my honey harvest produced a dark honey almost like tea or dark ale. Last year it was an amber color.
Is my honey color this year due to older comb or is it more of a blossom factor.
We harvested in mid- July here in Natchez, MS on the 31st parallel.

RE: Honey Color

Color is usually dependant on what flowers the bees are visiting.

Amber is usually clover honey.

Not knowing what the local plants are, I'd hazard guess at southwestern wildflower.

Also could be soy, tulip poplar, or Goldenrod.
