Small bees with a big bite

Posted by Pyrgo (My Page) on

I have a cabin outside Fort Worth, Texas and was mowing when swarmed by small bees, 1/3 the size of honey bees but not wasps. They have a terrible bite and the sting last a whole day, with little cuts at the sting points, and welts and swelling the next day.

Any idea of what type of bees they are? Also, I can't find a nest in the nearby trees. Could they be living underground?

I found where they're located. No need to reply.

So where did you find them?
