 o
hive spacing

As a new beekeeper, I ran into the problem of "drifting" ie bees leaving their home hiveand joining an adjacent hive

I understand this problem can occur if hives are placed too close together. Does anyone know what proper hive spacing is?

RE: hive spacing

I don't think it's super critical. I've seen many hives that are as close as they can be and get the outer covers off. I like to leave enough room to set the inner cover or some frames down against the side of the hive. You can turn the hives a little to make the entrances at slightly different angles, or use different colors on your brood boxes
