It shouldn't hurt anything at all to have a dog around hives. My dogs go with me when I work bees all the time.
If bees are stinging the dog, either A: you need to requeen with a gentle strain , or B: something small and fuzzy(skunks) is pestering them at night and so they're mad at the world.
