| A friend of mine raises bees (I think 4 hives), and he wants to get a dog. The dog would live in the house, but would use the back yard (where the hives are) for potty.
Is this safe? Does size or color, or breed of the dog make any difference? Do any of you have dogs around your bees? Or would you advise he not get a dog? Thanks! |

| It shouldn't hurt anything at all to have a dog around hives. My dogs go with me when I work bees all the time. If bees are stinging the dog, either A: you need to requeen with a gentle strain , or B: something small and fuzzy(skunks) is pestering them at night and so they're mad at the world. |

| I don't think it's a huge problem however if he gets to close! Check out the cute story about the bee sniffing dog. |
