buckwheat as nectar source for bees?

Hi,

Newbie.....want to know if buckwheat is as good a nectar source for local bees as they say it is?

Our kids love to watch the bees-honey bees, bumble bees, etc......diving into the flowers on our mexican petunia as well as stopping off on our marigolds, sunnies & cosmos. We were thinking of adding something to our yard & garden that would be both beneficial to the bees & to the soil & so far we've come across buckwheat.

Can anyone who's grown it tell me if it feeds the bees well? I've tried to post a few times for a trade to get some buckwheat seeds on the exchanges forum but no one seems to reply on it. I would love to trade a small trade w/ anyone who is interested. I've got marigolds, comos, sunflowers, hollyhocks, parsley & some other stuff.

Thanks for any input. :)
