Tiffany, for beekeeping products, you should do a search for beekeeping suppliers; there are several that do mail order. For education, there are many books available for learning beekeeping and for the practical side, you can see the link I've posted. Try and find a beekeeping club in your area and attend a few meetings. I think you'll find most beekeepers are willing to share their knowledge with you. And use TBA to find a mentor willing to take you on. You could also check with your county ag agent for local beekeepers.

Here is a link that might be useful: Texas Beekeeping Assoc clubs

Tiffany,
I am not a beekeeper, that's my husband, but I'm the beekeeper's helper. My husband has two books, Beekeeping for Dummies by Howland Blackiston, and The Backyard Beekeeper by Kim Flottum that he uses constantly and recommends highly.
Brushy Mountain is a reliable supplier of beekeeping equipment. That is where he got his first two hives and other necessities. Their catalog is also very informative. Google Brushy Mountain to get their website.
It is recommended that your bees be purchased or captured as locally as possible. After you have studied, gotten your equipment and are set up, you can start your beekeeping. Good luck, and the honey is delicious!
