Huge Yellow Jackets

My hive today had a whole heap of dead regular sized yellow jackets dead in front of it and there are all kinds of huge almost double the size ones all over. I'm beginning to think they are trying to take over the hive. I checked it and still lots of bees but they seem determined to get in. Had reduced the entrance quite a while back. They are scary looking creatures.

Oh yes....these guy's seem to be around more and more over the last several years, good thing is you put on a reducer, a good strong hive should take care of it, sometimes I push a piece of foam into the reducer to make it like half size, or sit in front for about a half /hour and kill them, this will take care of the regulars going in and out.

Sitting in front of the hive for a while and killing them may work but since I have extremely bad reactions to wasp bites I would have to be completely protected. And I think if my neighbours saw me sitting there with a fly swatter hitting the hive for that long they would probably have my sanity questioned.Maybe this cold spell will get rid of most of them.

LOL...this cold snap should get most of them I would think, today I juiced the last apples in my backyard but still some wasp were around.
