Bumble Bees

I believe I am a mass murderer. I was cleaning out a birds nest bumble bees had used this summer, and not knowing their ways, until now, soaked the nest in a pail of water to loosen the material. When I checked it this morning I discovered it had larvae in it. Have I destroyed the larvae or should I put everything back together and hope for the best in the spring?

| Don't worry, at this time of the year bumbles are done, most are dead now, some Queen bumbles who start the whole cycle again next year already have appropriate shelter in holes in the ground, buildings, sheds, walls etc. Konrad |

| You probably had some European bumbles. Native bumbles do not hive up. The queens burrow down, then arise in spring and rebuild the colony. I'd say ya done good! Nancy. |
