There is something about the smell of the honey, and the Bees in the summer time. Fresh honey warm from the hive still in the comb. The sound of the Bee's at work, the amazing things that they do as a colony. The good energy they bring to my land. The increase in production of my fruits and vegies.

Well they say "bees can smell fear". IMO, a guard bee may que in on jerkey movments made by feared people, head moving lookin at the bee, swatting, maybe even the rise in temprature on the face of feared people are all things that a bee might identify as a preadator may have.

You need to go visit a beekeeper this will convince him, call an association on the lik below.

I believe some people attract stings, but it's not fear. It could be something in the sweat. I'm sometimes quite nervous... hey, I wear bee beards several times a year.

I quickly got a pretty affectionate attitude toward my bees... now skeeters and black flies make me twitch.

Hey thanks for all the info! Somehow I knew this forum would do the trick. My husband (who's a carpenter) has agreed to build two hives for me! Sooo excited. Of course you know this means I'll be bugging you on a regular basis. I am one of these people, sheeters will bite me when other people don`t know they are around. I never go into a hive without a veil but Beekeeping to me is very rewarding hobbie I call them my girfriends!

If your hubby is going to build look at beesource.com they have palnes for the hive and lots more.
