This is Morocco. I got it from Atlock Farms in NJ. Seemed a better investment than a pointsetta.

That is certainly a beautiful specimen you scored on! i noticed the soli-mutata hybrids don't like to get too dry (humidity-wise), which is how i lost a start i had last year. thanks for sharing those lovely pics and that in my opinion, that is MUCH nicer than a poinsettia.

Thanks for the advice Ming. I'll be sure to watch out for that but I expect it to decline by the time spring arrives and hopefully revive it outside here in humid NJ.

HI:

I need some help with my Morocco plant. I got it last spring at a flower show, but it has not grown much.

It has drying out around the leaf edges. I thought I was either over or underwatering. It is with other begonias which are doing fine, so humidity should be OK. I have kept it watered but don't see much progress.

Any tips?

Thanks.

Sorry maryinphilly, I didn't get an email that you posted here.
It has gotten crispy around the leaves for me too at times. It has grown though. I kept it outside during summer. It is a sprawling plant and it lost some of that red highlighting though not completely. I am finding it easier than the rexes. Did you try to change the pot and the soil? Sometimes that gives my plants a kick in the pants. Mine is in a plastic 6" pot. I water it deeply and then let the top get very dry, but not so the pot is dry through and through and it is hard to get wet next time. I haven't fertilized it much either. Maybe some osmocote whenever I repot. Maybe a few watering crystals too. Come to think of it, maybe I should give it some Neptune Harvest and see if I can get some of that color back.

That is one nice Begonia!

Thanks Larry. I still have it however, she contacted powdery mildew this winter. Unfortunately, I made a bad purchase during the winter and many of my begonias are now infected.

Lovely, that one is on my list.
