Escargot begonia

Hi, I am usually over at the Hypertufa forum here at Garden web. Concrete items, garden ornaments and cast leaves.
I was so intrigued by a leaf that someone gave me in early December 04, I had to challenge myself to attempt to cast it in concrete.
Here is a picture with a grouping of a variety of escargot begonias, the cast leaf is the one in the front on top of a black bowl. You can use the arrow keys at the top of the picture to go backward and see it by itself.

I will be looking through here on how to make sure I do not kill the ones that I just purchased.

I thought it was beatiful too, but I have a question. I've never heard of more than one form of B. 'Escargot'. I have the one on the left, and would love to have the one in the middle, but are you sure it's another Escargot?

Hi,
Thank you for the compliments.
I am not begonia knowledgeable. The plant in the middle of the picture with the spikier leaves and the spider looking center is really intriguing up close. Unfortunately the plant did not have a label on it when I bought it. It does swirl on top and bottom like the "Escargot". If any one knows the correct name I am hoping they will post it here.

i have the plant in the middle and it too came nameless-- from the supermarket. it looks close to something called 'Super Curl' that i see sold on ebay, or something called 'Chine Curl' on a japanese begonia page. HTH,

Dena,

The begonia in question is 'Super Curl'. Here are my pix of it. Also 'Purple Curl' is similar and I have a poor picture of it as well.

'Super Curl 1'

'Super Curl 2'
