Antonelli's Tuberous Begonias

Hi,

Does anyone have experience of growing Antonelli's "champion, or AB named variety tubers"
I grew some of their Ruffled basket ones from seed last year and was pretty pleased with the results.
I notice on their website that they are offering a number of cutting raised ones, supposedly the cream of the cream.
They aren't cheap at 30/35$ each and I just wondered had anyone grown them and if so were they worth the high price.

I will be near that area of California soon and although the wrong time of year to see the nursery in full bloom had thought of calling.
thanks
Geoff

Geoff, I have never grown any of their named (AB) variety, but I have grown their regular tubers for years. I have no hesitation to recommend them and if their "cream of crop" tubers are better than their regular, you will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks for that, I just saw on their website that they take cuttings of the choicest seed raised ones and I wondered were they worth paying extra for.

As a matter of interest did you buy tubers from Antonellis originally or grow from seed and have you grown their picotee basket types. I grew their Ruffled basket ones last year and had some very nice plants.

I have managed to save quite a few of the tubers ( some were quite a good size).Unfortunately the dreaded Vine Weevil has destroyed a few, mustn't have been methodical enough in my spraying. I would imagine that those that start again this year should make bigger plants?.
thanks
Geoff
