End of season tubers - follow-up

Recap: last year, in autumn, I bought three tubers that had put out little sprouts despite being held in plastic baggies for several months.

I planted them up and they grew on over the winter, then went into terminal dormancy in spring. The tubers became mushy/corky.

However, I put the 'new' shoots into water as they fell in spring. Two survived, developed roots and a mini tuber. They were planted out for this summer and the cascade begonia is now flowering while the upright is still building bulk through leaf production.

Just passing the info along. If you mislay a tuber this coming season it may not be a total loss when you find it 'much later'.
