Leaf propogation of Angel Wings

| Okay, while in college I tried to propogate my Angel Wings via leag cuttings and they always died. I tried again a few days ago and the leaf spoiled right away. What in the world? Does anyone have a method that does not result in absolute failure? I'm going to try until I either pass out or acheive my goal.... |

| Most literature indicates that you cannot (Can Not) propagate cane begonias (sometimes called angel wing begonias) from leaves. Some leaves may root but no plantlets will ever develop. Some Asiatic cane or shrub type begonias may propagate from leaves such as amphioxus or bipinnatifida (worked for me) but it is best to propagate cane begonias from stem cuttings only. For example I have rooted a leaf of 'Panasoffkee' (a trailing begonia) but no plantlets have appeared yet and I suspect never will. Cane begonias are very easily propagated with either water rooting or moist soilless mix (perlite works very well too). |
