Dry leaf on Rex?

I have a small Devil's Paradise that I started from a leaf. it grows well, but I can't get beyond 3 leaves. the oldest leaf will get a small dry spot and then it continues to dry up.Then it will make a new leaf, and grows nicely for awhile, then it starts all over again, always on the oldest leaf. Does anyone know what this is and what I can do for it?

my guess is low humidity. have you tried a pebble dish?
when did you start this begonia? if you started it in the fall/winter, chances are you might see a spurt of new growth as it warms up. still, definitely try to increase humidity and it might not hurt to start weakly fertilizing (1/2 strength or less) more often. also, what sort of lighting is it under?

I started it last fall.I can't believe it's humidity as it sits on a shelf above my kitchen sink. there is a florescent light above it. I have given it fish emulsion for fertilizer.
