Shade? Semi-Shade?

| Hi all!
I'm new to this forum & although an avid gardener, have never grown tuberous begonias before. Have done some research, but can't seem to find any definitive info as to exactly how much sun/shade is needed to bloom these beauties.
I'm planning on growing some in ground & some in containers underneath a small grove of Osage Orange trees in my front yard. Thought they would be lovely surrounding an old-fashioned wooden bench swing we have there.
But how much shade is too much? I don't want to buy tubers only to condemn them to death if I can help it.

| If they get bright indirect light they will survive. However, if you give them a few hours of direct sun, either morning sun or intermittently, they will bloom thier heads of. If they get filtered sun (e.g. dappled shade from the spaces between the leaves of large tall mature trees) they will also do ok. In dark areas of the garden with no or little direct light they will not do well. Avoid all day hot sun, or placing them in a southern or western position where light surfaces may radiate hot sun on them in the afternoon. Eastern exposures are best. |

| Thanks for the tips. I think that with your info, I'll probably plant them in containers so I can move them in & out of the best situations for them. This way I can enjoy them by my swing when I'm out there, but they can still get their needs satisfied when I'm not. |
