broken wax begonias

While planting a ton of wax begonias I managed to break a few of the stems. My mom told me you can root them in a glass of water. Is this true? Will the plants bounce back if there are a few leaves and stems left on the broken plant? These are 6 pack plants from Lowes. I've never grown them before, but my neighbor does. They are beautiful and the deer don't care for them!!

RE: broken wax begonias

Think I've always just stuck broken ones in potting mix. The plants the broken pieces came from will do fine--probably even be a little bushier. They're really not hard however you do it, and very rewarding. Don't have deer problems here, but heavy rains and our heavy soil can cause them to rot in the heat and humidity of summer, so watch out for that. And enjoy!
