Hi, I am going to be in Portland the second week of May and wondered if there are plant shows or shopping places for Begonias and African Violet/Gesneriads that anyone knows. Thank you, Karan

hi karan,

if you're in portland, you can try Portland Nursery. they have two store, but the one on division has a large indoor section. they occasionally have a nice variety of begonias, but they always have at least a few. same goes with gessies.
how far are you willing to go outside of the main PDX area?

keep in mind that the 2005 gesneriad convention will be in Portland this summer! (see link)

Hi Ming,
I know Portland Nursery and 7-Dee's on Powell ( I think) had an indoor section that I hope is still there. The selection of native and perennial plants at Portland Nursery is something that I don't have here, I will check out there indoor section. It has been years since I have been there. I can drive in the Portland and surrounding areas. I will be there for a little over a week. I am going to the Rose Gardens and the Japanese Garden, Powell's book store, and not sure what else. I am thinking about the Convention and am already making plans - my house is going to so full of plants :) Karan

Ming,
Hi, I am in Portland and remember you told me about a nursery on Sauvie Island I think that has begonias.
I can't remember the name of it so thought you could remind me. The 7 Dee's on Powell is no longer there.
They had a small section that was indoor plants and had begonias and gesneriads and other tropical house plants.
You can email me direct if you like, thank you, Karan
