| I'm on my 4th attempt at making leaf cuttings of rex begonias, and it looks like they are headed for failure, too.
The first ones, I put in seed-starting mix and kept them moist and under a dome. They rotted, some faster than others, so I figured it was too wet that way. I tried again with seed starting mix and no dome. Most of those also rotted -- I had a few that looked like they were taking root, but died after I transplanted them to a regular pot. Keeping a uniform moisture was very difficult. Too dry then?
Then I read someone's description of water starting. I put the wedges in clear water, about 1/3 in the water and 2/3s out, and the top edges are all drying/dying.
I'm also trying a variation with perlite and water, with the wedges about 1/3 into the perlite. Those, too, are are getting the top edges dried out, and generally not looking too good.
Other plant I try to root like geraniums and lamium, just seem to take off on their own. What am I doing wrong here?
