What is the latest date one can plant tubers in Zone 3 for flowers this summer? My tubers are just showing and some have a few leaves. Will they bloom this summer? I potted them up and put outside and finally realized I needed to bring them in the house to warm the "poor dears" up which is why I am so late. At least they seem to have survived my mean treatment.;-] Is their any point in putting them in hanging baskets?

RE: latest date

Since nobody's answered you, I'll try a guess. I think as long as you don't have frosts they'd be okay outside now, and baskets would be fine. Don't know how long your growing season is--I asked my sister in z3/4 Montana how long her growing season is, and she said 'what growing season?'--so if you get frost in any month maybe not. They grow pretty fast once they get started though, so you may be pleasantly surprised. Good luck!
