The leaves look almost black and feel like very soft rubber The flowers are pink.

Anyone know which begonia this is?

Thank you for any information,
Billy Rae

Thanks for the link!

I have since been told it could be B.Beatrice Haddrell. I looked that one up and it did look like it, so I'm assuming that's the one unless I hear otherwise.

yup! i have the same one...and id'd the same as bea haddrell (from glasshouseworks.com.) what do we do with the SPENT BLOOMS AND STALKS once they are done flowering? my neighbor said to pinch them back a few inches and new shoots will form on the sides. does that sound right to you?

i found mine at a local nursery and it was tagged "los angeles" - :)

Interesting the things you hear if you listen. I've never heard your rhizomatous begonias would rebloom if you cut the bloom stalks back just a little. I always leave a goodly stub, because I was told rot might set in if you cut them too close, but they never rebloom. The plant will shed those stubs cleanly after a little time, and I do the same with bad leaves. Some rhizomatous bloom for a longer period than others, and some have more blooms or larger ones than others, but I don't think cutting the bloom stems affects that. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time!
