Q about Rex with puffy leaves...

Posted by gardenfanatic MO zone5 (My Page) on

I got a Rex begonia a couple months ago, and in the last few days, the leaves are cupping downward and puffing up in between the veins. I haven't fertilized it, which is the only thing I can think of that causes plants to do that. I just moved it to a sunnier spot, but I can't imagine that causing it. Any thoughts? Thanks-

Deanna

RE: Q about Rex with puffy leaves...

Rexes are funny. They react to each season differently. You are currently experiencing some transition into summer - higher heat, more light, etc - even if growing under lights. I spray my rexes monthly, but mine are grown outdoors all year. While they enjoy warmth, they despise Central Florida's summer, heat, humidity and rains (or if it WERE to actually rain lol) Greg
