tube begonia - vigorous leaves, no flower

Hi, my tube begonias already have 3 pairs of large beautiful leaves. I notice new secondary branches (not flowers) are coming out from between leaves and the main stem. Last year, those were all giant flowers. What might be the problem? I hope they flower soon. I love the huge double flowers.

Maybe you need to feed it. A fertilizer with a high last number such as 5-5-10 would promote flowering. But be aware, a plant needs to make leaves and food for itself before it is likely to flower. Flowering, or reproduction, is its LAST priority. So be patient.

Now the flower buds are shown. I do fertilize them. I am keeping them indoors this year. They are shielded by a few callas. Otherwise, they are in a light level where indoor gerbera daisies bloom constantly. The leaves look great. I hope the flowers will do well indoors.

I bought these last year. It was really difficult because these were grafted branches. They did not grow well indoors. The leaves looked very tired. The flowers were malformed with pale color. They looked tired and wanted to sleep. However, the ones living outside did great with constant flowers of intense salmon color. Nevertheless, I let the main stems stand over winter indoors. I noticed some reasonably sized bulbs this spring.

I will see how they do indoors. If necessary, I will have to move them out.

They should have more than three leaves before they flower.Start them early enough and get the plant to have an abundance of leaves ,then comes the flowers.Antonneli's of California sells two types of soluble fertizers one to promote the growth of the plant and the second to promote flowering.
