 o
Rex Begonias That Are Root Hardy?

Has anyone found any Rex Begonias that are root hardy in zone 7B-8 when well mulched? I've found some plants that are normally grown as houseplants are root hardy when well mulched here in metro Atlanta. When I lived at my other house not far from where I live now I had a Rex Begonia that came back for a few years when planted outside.

The only one that I've read about that may be hardy would be 'Metallic Mist'. You can also experiment but don't expect too much.

I've been researching hardy begonias (other than B. grandis) and I've never heard of any rex begonias that are hardy.

'Metallic Mist' is not a rex begonia but it is fairly hardy. One that I planted last summer survived the winter, albeit an unusually mild one.
