beefsteak begonia and spider

hello, first time poster, long time reader...i was hoping i could get some advice. i have a healthy beefsteak begonia plant that i grew from a cutting i got this winter, its been outside for a couple months and is doing good besides being eaten by something occasionally... recently a big scary looking spider set up residence in the base of the pot (its a small pot the size of a baseball cap) and it pretty much covered the new leaves and shoots that are shooting up at the base with a strong, but clean web. my question is do you think this could harm the growth or health of the plant and should i remove it? the spider has been there for almost 4 days and i havent noticed any ill effects, and i would like to keep the spider to protect against other insects, and it kind of makes the plant look more interesting, but i am worried if i am making a big mistake. any advice? i know this is a weird question, thanks in advance.
