Basal growth

New to this type of Begonia. It was in full gorgeous bloom when I bought it, but now the blooms has 'gone south', its not very attractive. The tag says it would bloom all year, but does not to tell you what to do once they drop. In the meantime I looked for a node that I could cut/prune to and see if I can get new growth, but they are all occupied. I did deadhead the used up blooms and now noticed that new growth ( what I have been looking for ) is rising from the very base of the plant...so I suspect i will get new blooms on that, but yet its misleading when they say they bloom all year long. I would have to wait, how long?? for the new growth to give buds, if at all. I also was wondering if I should just cut down to the basal growth past the stems that had bloomed?

BTW, it is an hybrid ..part of what Xmas begonias are.
