Tuberouse begonias in the tropics

| I am used to growing begonias in the pacific northwest, lifting and storing the tubers over the winter. I now live in Guatemala where it is 65 - 70 degrees year round. I have bought a few t. begonias here and they doing great.
My question: do the tubers need to be rested in this climate? will they start fizzling out when they get tired and want a rest? How do I rest them here, and for how long?

| I was hoping someone who knew what they were talking about would answer you! I used to grow tuberous begonias in the PNW too, but they don't like the heat and humidity here. I would think with temperatures like that they'd do very well, but I would guess they might at least go semi-dormant for a little while--but I don't know. Sure wish you luck, and don't forget there are LOTS of other begonias, including ones that are native there. |
