Anyone growing Wax Begonias?

Posted by mokikat z9 FL (My Page) on

I have just been going crazy for these plants this year. I grow them in containers rather than in the ground. I don't have a lot of shade around the house so I am growing them on the screen porch and they get morning sun for about 3 hours. Seems to be the perfect growing conditions because they are the prettiest I've ever had. Where are ya'll growing them?

Wax begonias were my first houseplants I think, back in the Dark Ages when they were only grown as houseplants. I had them blooming all year--the common name I learned was 'bloomin' fool begonias'! When they got too leggy and bloomed less I cut them back to the soil level, and new growths started up right away to bloom very soon. Very happy plants! Hooked me good.
