Begonia that rotted at the soil level

| I purchased 3 beautiful orange begonias supposed to be out of canada. planted them in a large pot on my from porch, they did very well all summer until hot weather came, then they rotted at the soil level, anyone know what could have caused this. they were a hardy bloomer and grew to be quite large. |

| They may have rotted from too much water or too much heat. Most people have trouble growing tuberous in the South and treat them as annuals. You might be able to save the tuber by stopping all watering and storing in a cooler, drier place until it shows new growth. Then again the tuber may already be rotted as well. Did you try to propagate from any stems? |
