what is this?

I planted this begonia in the ground about a year ago thinking it was begonia popenoi. I have since compared it and I don't think they are the same. Mine has more symmetrically round, larger leaves. It did well in the ground this past winter, although it did not fill out till spring. Tall spikes of clustered, simple white flowers in late winter or early spring. Some leaves have what appears to be the start of a small plant in the center (what are those?). Any ideas? The plant in the foreground is costus globosus. Thank-you.

AnnaFl,

It looks like nelumbifolia to me.

Here are some pictures.

Butch,

Thank-you. I think you are right. I've gone a whole year without knowing. Now I can record it. Thanks!
