Can you overwinter dragonwing begonias?

| Hi,
I planted a row of DW begonias in my window box in full sun. They are doing really well. I'd like to see if there is a way that I could overwinter them. If so, how? Thank you for any suggestions and advice. |

You could always take cuttings, they root quickly in water. I have a couple really large pots and the wind blew them over and broke off some stems so I just stuck them in a jar of water and when roots were showing I potted them up. |

| bellarosa, Yes, you can overwinter dragonwing begonia. We are in the same zone only I am farther north. The dragonwing I put on a chair at the top of the stairway near the skylights and keep lightly watered all winter. It continues to grow and flower except that the flowers loose the red color. Most of my bigonias I keep in the pots and put them under the house in the crawl space. It is 40 degree all winter. Good Luck to you. gmom2-6boys |

| Are angelwings & dragonwings the same thing? My grandma had what we called an angelwing for as long as I can remember. My aunt now has it & the plant's at least 25 years old by now. She gave me a baby from it & I'm determined to keep the thing alive. I've already murdered one cutting from it, & I don't want to be a serial killer. |

| I've always heard them to be called angelwings. I have one too this year and came on here to find out how to save it overwinter. I'm not sure if they are the fibrous rooted or tuberous rooted begonias. I brought it in from outside but normally most begonias get fuzzy mildew and die quickly for me. |
